With the support of a small group of experienced and dedicated Rottweiler owners and breeders we have now launched a Rottweiler Rescue Scheme:
Rottweiler Rescue SA Inc is for “death row” Rotties. This is a new venture which commenced in August 2007 with our first rescue dog ‘Hecktor’
We are a non profit organisation relying on donations and the work of volunteers.
Our purpose is to:
- Provide short-term direct care to Rottweilers that have been mistreated, abandoned, rescued or lost.
- Rehabilitate the sick and/or injured Rottweilers that have been mistreated, abandoned, rescued or lost.
- Assess and re-home the Rottweilers to suitably assessed adoption homes.
- To contribute to the prevention of undue suffering to all rescued Rottweilers.
- To establish and maintain a network of foster homes to temporarily house and assess rescued Rottweilers.
As the Rottweiler is a popular breed, and due to indiscriminate breeding many dogs find themselves without a home. Together with the RSPCA and other groups, we are working with these Rottweilers who through no fault of their own and circumstances beyond their control they have found themselves on death row. Some of these dogs have been victims of animal cruelty and or neglect, death, or illness.
Our volunteers have made a commitment to rescuing these dogs and re-introducing them into the community, adopting them into loving homes. An experienced member of the rescue will assess the dogs prior to be them being deemed suitable candidates for adoption.
All monies donated and adoption fees, goes into rescuing other Rottweilers in need, desexing and those animals requiring veterinary treatment.
